ResearchNZ on Maori Flag

ResearchNZ polled 500 New Zealanders from 8 to 10 September 2009 on flying the Maori flag.
- 40% support flying a Maori flag alongside the New Zealand flag on all official occasions, and 51% disagree
- Women and younger NZers far more likely to support flying a Maori flag on all official occasions
Colmar Brunton poll on Bill English

Colmar Brunton polled on Bill English for One News, as part of their 1,000 respondent poll in September 2009. Findings:
- 30% think Bill English has acted with integrity over his housing allowance
- 54% think he has not
- 62% think his actions have damaged his credibility as Finance Minister, while 29% disagree

Colmar Brunton polled on the name of Wanganui for One News, as part of their 1,000 respondent poll in September 2009. Findings:
- 31% support name change to Whanganui
- 58% do not
- 12% unsure
UMR poll on NZ media
October 7, 2009
UMR polled 750 New Zealanders from 24 to 27 September on what they think of the NZ media. Very interesting results:
- Only 35% said the NZ media are accurate in reporting the news, with 25% saying inaccurate, 37% neutral and 3% don’t know.
- Over 60s have the lowest score for accuracy – 23% compared to 43% for under 30s.
- 30% say the NZ media are balanced and 30% say they are one-sided.
- 27% say they are willing to admit mistakes, and 46% say they are not willing.
Curia poll on mobile phones

Curia did a poll for Exceltium in August 2009 of 800 mobile phone owners. The full results are here: 090807 Curia Report
Key findings:
- 48% on Vodafone, 47% Telecom, 3% both and 2% other
- 33% said their choice of network was influenced by whether the people they call or text are on the same network
- 73% say mobile phone charges are higher in NZ than overseas and 3% disagree
- 81% believe Telecom and Vodafone are over-charging and only 5% disagree
- 86% say they should be able to call someone on a different network for the same cost as someone on the same network, and 88% say the same for texting
- 85% think it is wrong it often costs more to ring a mobile phone domestically than to call someone living overseas
- 37% trust companies to lower their prices voluntarily, 55% do not
- 81% want the Government to accept the Commerce Commission’s recommendation to lower the termination rate, and 14% do not
- 15% said they are more likely to vote for a party that lowered mobile phone costs through reducing the termination rates and only 1% said they are less likely
UMR on David Bain
July 26, 2009
UMR polled 750 NZers in June on David Bain.
In early June a net 39% thought he was not guilty. By late June this dropped to 16%.
Of the 47% who think Bain is not guilty, 79% support compensation of $1.5 million.
Global Finance Crisis poll by UMR
May 11, 2009
UMR polled 750 people from 2 to 14 April 2009. Findings include:
- 1 in 3 believe the crisis will get a lot worse or lead to a depression
- 41% of Kiwi’s believe economy will pick up within a year
- 82% blame international events for the slow down and only 11% domestic events
- 42% expect to spend less in 2009 than 2008

Colmar Brunton have done a survey of 500 people for the makers of K-Y. They found:
- 25% of women say financial worries are affecting intimacy levels in their relationship
- 19% of men say the same
- In the 20 to 24 age group, it is 38%
